Getting started

Well today is my first blog on my new website. I have been setting up the website myself and really don't have the necessary skills, so it has been quite a struggle. So you may be asking why I just didn't get someone to build it for me and believe me I have been asking myself the very same question!

But I am a great believer in lifelong learning and pushing yourself (within reason!). I have also been reading a book called Flow: The Psychology of Happiness and the author Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (don't ask me to pronounce it) says that we are at our happiest when we are focused on a goal that uses our skills whilst challenging us and where we get feedback. So I have had all of those things whilst focused on mastering the website and whilst I am sure it has not been one of the happiest days of my life, the time has flown past. Distortion of time is one of the aspects of Flow.  His book provides some interesting thoughts on what makes humans happy. Concentrating on something that is challenging and being with others are some of the important factors in happiness. The book is a long, and at times challenging, read but there are some very interesting insights buried within it.  So I am quite pleased that I have managed to get the website up and running and happy to hear your feedback.
